Bio Entrepreneurial Idea Blog Post

I present to you the Healer Container!!!!!
No matter what health problems you have, after you drink this water everyday, the health proble that you have will soon get better. This product varies on the type of illness in you. Even though it looks like normal water but it's not. This container contains many compounds in it to heal you. After you pour water in this container, seal it with the cap for half an hour and drink it. It taste the same as other natural water but it doesn't work the same. Buy and for the benefit of

your lifestyle!! >.<

I know that water is the healthiest drink because it won't do any harm to your body. If there is a way that they can put in compounds that'll make your body heal from anykind of illness then it'd be awesome. Even though just drinking water with more compounds in it won't really heal the illness but it might be able to help out a little. I hope they can come up with something like this one day.

synthetic genome

Scientists have announced that they created an entire synthetic genome. They did this by stitching up the DNAs. They put the genome in the test tube and used brewers' yeast and that was when the genome came together through the process that the yeast used to repair DNA. "Which also means," Drew Endy, professor in the department of biological engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge and an expert in the field of synthetic biology, said, "that it will be possible to construct some mammalian chromosomes."

I think that this is really amazing because it must've taken the scientist a really long time in order to come to this conclusion. Not just that, now they found out a way to create an entire synthetic genome. Being able to duplicate the same type of DNA as the other and probably being able to function the same way. I just think that it's really amazing to be able to come up with something like that.

Gilead

Gilead started in 1987, in foster city, California. Since 1987, Gilead sciences had tried to discover new medications for the patients who are suffering from a life-threatening disease. Their primary areas that they are focusing on are medications for HIV/AIDS etc. They try to identify the compunds that may shows some possibilities for the disease.

Here are some of the products they have:
Atripla® is the first and only once daily single tablet regimen for the treatment of HIV infection in adults. It is intended for use as a stand-alone therapy, or in combination with other antiretrovirals, and combination of all the other pills.
Truvada® is a fixed-dose once-daily combination pill containing Viread® and Emtriva®. It is used in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of HIV infection in adults. Viread® treatment of HIV infection in adults in combination with other antiretroviral agents.
Emtriva® treatment of HIV infection in adults.
Hepsera® is a once-daily, oral NtRTI for the treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis B.

My reflection towards this is I think it's a really good idea because I know no one wants the get the life-threatening disease. Even though it's not really the cure yet but it's still a good thing that they have medications to slow down and help out the disease a bit. It may not cure and make the disease go away yet but it's still a step closer than nothing. I hope they'll find a cure for it one day because everyone will be waiting for that day to come. It's better than nothing.

Trashes found on the beach

This year, more than 378,000 people volunteered to clean up the beach around the major areas around the globe. "Our ocean is sick," quoted Laura Capps, Senior Vice President at Ocean Conservancy. Trashes are everywhere, about million of pounds. With the International Coastal Cleanup, everyone is helping out the environment and meeting up to pick up the trash, which is a good thing for our ecosystem.

Trash in the ocean kills seabirds, mammals and turtles because of their indigestion. Some were tangled up in nets and plastic bags. These trashes are causing the animal to get cuts and wounds by the glass pieces causing them to get infected. Causing them internal bleedings because of eating it.

Here are some of the facts about how long it takes for the trash in the ocean to decompose:

-A tin can that entered the ocean in 1986 is still decomposing in 2036
-A plastic bottle that entered the ocean in 1986 is decomposing in 2436
-A glass bottle that entered the ocean in 1986 is decomposing in year 1,001,986

From my point of view, I think that it's everyone's fault. It's harming our environment, innocent animals, and ourselves. Who would want to go to the beach and see all the trashes laying around like that? This is a really sad thing because it's mainly harming the ecosystem. Why can't people just hold onto their trash and throw it away in a garbage can?? That's what a garbage can is!! FOR GARBAGEEEE!!! If you can't even throw away your trash properly then you probably don't know anything at all. Think about what you're doing to the environment before you do something. Think about what you're harming. Imagine someone throwing trash in your house. Would you like that? I don't think so. So please... throwing away your trash in a garbage can isn't that hard. Just remember. Even though you think it's not harming you.. it is.

-41% lives in fresh water.
-58% lives in sea water.
-1% moves between both.
-It is mostly found in the tropics especially the Indo-west Pacific and Indian oceans.

Their predators:
SHARKS:
-Frilled shark
-Porbeagle
-Bull huss
-Shortfin mako

Their preys:
-They may be plant-eaters, meat-eaters, or both.
-For example: annelid worms, marine snails, mussels, clams, squids, crustaceans, insects, birds, amphibians, small mammals, and other fishes.

Their anatomys:
-They have skeletons which are must stiffer than sharks.
-Have an excellent sense of smell and vision.
-They also have a swim bladder to control their depth in water or in other words to help them float.

More informations:
-The closest common ancestor of the osteichthyes are tetrapods.
-They are the most various groups of vertebrates, over 29,000 species. Which makes them the largest class existing today.
-They do not have fin spines.
-They also have operculum, which helps them breathe without having to swim.

Commentator

Today in Bio. we had a visitor to come and talk to all us of. Her name is Dr. Louise S. Mead. She's like this expert on evolution, change in species over time or common ancestry or descent with modification, but mostly she's the expert on salamanders.

I found out a lot of amazing things like how most people thinks that god creates human beings within the last 10,000 years or so. But less than 50% of people believed in the evolution of human being.

If i was a commentator, paid to report on events and comment. I think that it was quite interesting because in the beginning, i didn't really know that much about these stuff but after class, i learned a lot of new things. I kind of got confused after a while. It would have been better if she would have brought in real fossils or something like that. Overall, it helped me a lot more to understanding what evolution is really like.

Climate changing is really dangerous

It is to be questioned that about the climate changing from global warming is causing all the animals and their habitats a really hard time. They estimated that by 2100, the climate could change up to 30 percent of all bird species worldwide. So far rhey know for sure that 79% of land-bird species are not going to be threatened with extinction but there is not a real answer that this will come true if we don't stop the climate from heating up. Researchers have been testing and estimating the amount of birds in extinction by the year of 2100 that 30% of land bird will be extincted with a 6.4 degrees. The biggest thing that they're most worried about is the climate changing because it will be a really dangerous thing to the environment.

My reflection on this is that it's really scary. Not just harming us but it's also harming the beautiful environment around us. GLOBAL WARMING- ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! I'm really worried about everything around us right now. I get really annoyed when people park but never turn off their engine. What's the pointtttt!!!! TURN OFF YOUR ENGINE!!!! I wish people would care more about global warming so that our beautiful earth and environment will be there forever.

P.S.- poor birds... ToT
